Culture Shock
By rawhide | July 20, 2007
Every Friday, we at CR Nation plan on turning our attention away from College Republicans and politics and towards some aspect of current culture. We hope that you find this as welcome of a change to read as we do to write.
Questions to ponder this weekend:
Will Harry (Potter) die? Kids are already lining up in bookstores to be the first to discover the fate of their fictional hero. Destiny is revealed at midnight. One thing is certain: J.K. Rowling will be much, much richer by this time tomorrow.
Will Barry (Bonds) break the record? Fans are already lining up to oppose Bonds’ induction into the Hall of Fame because of suspected cheating. While investigators continue to search for the smoking syringe, the Giants star and his smoking hot bat look to hit number 756. The NL Central-leading Brewers (is that a joke?) try to deny history this weekend.
Does anyone remember that Neil Armstrong took his small step 38 years ago today? You know, the moon landing?
Is it a giant leap to consider “Chuck and Larry” and its emphasis on homosexual marriage a step in the wrong direction, even for our society? Adam Sandler and Kevin James are funny; homosexuality is not.
Lastly, if Michael Vick tortured and brutally killed his dogs, how did he treat his cats?
