Republicans and Diversity
By sage of monticello | July 30, 2007
As many prominent GOP Presidential candidates skip opportunties to speak to audiences comprised of demographic minorities, i.e. Black people, young people, and Hispanics; I wonder how those actions are perceived by those sub groups of the population as well as society at large.
I mean, do we really Just Say No to Diversity?
If the actions by the GOP Presidential candidates are speaking louder than words, and are thus being perceived badly by both minority sub-groups and society at large; then should the actions of the GOP Presidential candidates and future generations of Republicans change to take into account the growing electoral power of minorities in this country.
What will it take for Republicans to really start acting like Blacks, Hispanics, and young people matter and participate in speaking opportunities like the YouTube debate?
Four years of Hillary? Eight years of Barack?
What are your thoughts?

It is time for more people to embrace diversity…we are not just the party that Ryan Biladou hopes for…the WHAM…but we too are the party of Gays, Blacks, Hispanics, Women, and Youth…Let our Party overcome Brownback’s Mountain (aka the Party of Pat Robertson)and realize that all of these groups share a belief in fiscal conservatism and many social values…An 80% Friend is not a 20% Enemy…and if you want a republican in 2008 please vote for Rudy…He Gets the Big Tent Idea

I don’t see the big deal with Republicans skipping the NAACP and Urban League. Black people don’t vote for Republicans and 2008 is not the year for us to embark on yet another “outreach” mission which always ends up in promising hand outs. The question we have to ask ourselves as Republicans is: What are they asking for?
If we want to gain black votes in 2008 it is very simple. Find 2000 black preachers across the ccountry that are willing to sell their souls for a jelly (which won’t be hard to do) and we can increase our percentage maybe by 2 points making it an even 14 percent.

Does the GOP really want a lot of black people in the party? Really consider what you’re getting yourself into…
Yes, most blacks are socially conservative but they also don’t know that Uncle Sam is the Uncle and not the daddy. Most blacks support an ultimate state of socialism. From universal healthcare right on down to food stamps black people mostly love the welfare state.
This outreach needs to stop
