Poverty Rate declines
By cement mixer | August 28, 2007
…and John Edwards marches on. He is persistently pro “government coerced theft and redistribution of property”…
From the Associated Press:
The Census Bureau reported Tuesday that 36.5 million Americans, or 12.3 percent — were living in poverty last year. That’s down from 12.6 percent in 2005.
The median household income was $48,200, a slight increase from the previous year. But the number of people without health insurance also increased, to 47 million.
An explanation as to why was given in a one liner at the bottom of the article (typical liberal media) It said:
…low unemployment in 2006 helped lower the poverty rate
It seems that we have stumbled onto an economic rule: A paying job provides and individual with the financial ability or means to not only support himself, but in many cases, persons in addition to himself without governmental assistance or intervention into the private sector.
Cool!
The question then becomes how do we increase the number of jobs?
And to add a political twist, which party best represents a political stance which would better serve the goal of increasing the number of jobs - thus decreasing the number of welfare participants, in addition to decreasing the size, scope, power, and coercive nature of government?
The correct answers statistically are: less government interference in the forms of taxation and regulation; and Republicans
Contrary to popular belief Republicans are concerned with lowering the poverty rate, we just do it in a way which takes into account economic reality.
