On the trail with Romney
By rawhide | August 29, 2007
Mitt Romney has released his 11th campaign ad, posted to YouTube about a half-hour ago.
I found it interesting that for more than half of the time that Romney is shown in the ad, his hair is near-perfect, even though he is running. Then, there are a few images where Romney’s hair is wet with sweat. An internal Romney campaign memo obtained by the Boston Globe in February noted that a potential problem for Romney was his perfect hair. Apparently, this is an attempt to change that perception.
I would still put money on Romney using hairspray to make sure the “sweaty hair” looks perfect.
Update: The more I watch this commercial, I also think this is a subtle attack on the age of Romney’s main opponents. McCain is 71, Thompson is 65 and Giuliani is 63. Romney is 60, but he sure doesn’t look like it in this commercial. Can you see any of the other three out running? I can’t. Romney looks young and vigorous, something that always plays well with the electorate.
