Col. school bans tag
By sage of monticello | August 30, 2007
An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.
“It causes a lot of conflict on the playground,” said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.
Kids are still allowed to run, just without a purpose. When a second grader can’t run after somebody, then why the hell would they run.
Second graders don’t run with a purpose other than complete and utter chaos. I mean, have you ever seen a second grader run?
This ban and its potential spread is not good for several reasons
First, this instills in kids a sense that the world is not harsh and competitive. The message that is reinforced in their minds is that government (the school) will always be there to protect me from those chasing me whether it is a school mate or creditors. When the principle of a protective state is developed in kids, it is plausible that they will grow up with a greater lacking of personal responsibility.
Second, kids in the United States are the fattest in the world. Yet, we are telling them it is not socially good for them to run.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though, running does not good when being fat is contagious…
Remember, government says that being fat is not our fault…
