MoveOn.org’s shameless fundraising techniques

By sage of monticello | September 23, 2007

If MoveOn.org had any integrity before, then they certainly don’t have any now.

They are using their political hitpiece on Gen Petreaus to raise funds in the face of Congressional and grassroots outrage at the nature of the political discourse many leftists and anti-war groups are currently using, namely that these groups want to see America fail for political gain and will attack pubic servants to achieve America’s failure to ensure their success.

Shortly after the Senate successfully voted to condemn MoveOn’s ad, MoveOn sent a fundraising email claiming that something “amazing had happened.”

That something “amazing” was their unexpectedly augmented ability to raise funds in light of the “shameless” Sentate vote grassroots outrage.

They are proud of their ability to fundraise based on their borderline defamation of character of a four star general and are in substantial amazement that others shared their disconcern for proper political discourse and respect of military leaders.

So, what did the email say? The email, in part, said:

Yesterday, an amazing thing happened….By midnight, over 12,000 people had donated $500,000—more than we’ve raised any day this year—for our new ad…

The message from MoveOn members was loud and clear: Don’t back down. Take the fight back to the issues that matter.

So today we’re shooting for a very ambitious goal: Reach $1 million so we can dramatically expand…

Expanding politics at the expense of integrity doesn’t sound like a good deal to me.

But then again, MoveOn doesn’t care America - all they care about is power without principle and that only works so long, and if you don’t believe me, ask any Republican in Washington D.C.
