Morgan Wilkins endorses Zatkoff for MFCR Chair

By punch bowl | October 30, 2007

Morgan has this to say –

Justin Zatkoff is a proven leader, a true conservative, and a personal friend. During the 2006 elections I worked side-by-side with Justin and saw first hand his dedication, loyalty, and talent. In 2007, Michigan College Republicans saw these same traits in Justin and elected him as their Chairman. Justin is still someone I respect and admire. Therefore, I happily and enthusiastically endorse Justin Zatkoff, once again, for MFCR Chairman.

TurnMichiganRed —

Update: This endorsement was sought after because in the attack email mentioned below, they criticized Dave Drwenke for being friends with the “far-right wing” activist, Morgan Wilkins. If Morgan Wilkins is considered a “far-right wing” activist, it’s especially important to note that she supports Zatkoff.

Update 2: Morgan Wilkins is probably one of the most amazing persons in the entire world. She has truly fought through life only to come out on top, as a truly oustanding individual. All those that (a) don’t at least take a little advice from such a wonderful person and (b) go on to attack her for being the wonderful person that she is should (1) be shot, (2) be tarred and feathered, and (3), be kicked out of the College Republicans… (oh wait, maybe #3 is moot).

It is far to early to be running a state chair campaign. It’s not even Halloween! Don’t we usually wait until post-CPAC to do this sort of thing? Hopefully other states don’t follow this Michigan extended campaign season…

Unfortunately Michigan is different… don’t forget last year the campaign for state chair started literally hours after the 2006 election.

But no worries… rumor has it their convention will just move up in order to deal with the early start of campaigning.

All of this is exactly why College Republicans are considered a joke by many campaigns. We are a week for election day and we have petty and sophomoric attacks going on. In no way am I faulting Justin for this, I’m sure he is busy helping elect Republicans throughout his state, the blame goes fully on Dave. Heed this advice, if you want to be the chairman next year, prove yourself through your actions campaigning and spreading the conservative message, not by trying to cause a division a week before the election.

Zatkoff’s opponents shouldn’t talk about the silly stuff going on today. They should talk about how Zatkoff supports Dan Carlson.

Yes, Dan Carlson. The MFCR constitution does not recognize the authority of a state GOP chair to oust, at will, a properly elected College Republican state chair. Yet Carlson supported Sam Moore when this was used against Ryan Cassin, thus wrecking his own organization for more than two years - and MFCR is still the joke of the country. That Dan Carlson.

    Thomas,

Zatkoff is probably the least qualified to run a state wide political organization of any CR in the state. He had never ran a CR club and he has never worked on a political campaign.

Now he’s using the College Republican blog to attack College Republicans that disagree with him, calls Republican legislators RINOS and has even threatened to recall some of them. Zatkoff’s Executive Director Andrew Boyd even filed the paperwork to recall a Republican state Senator.

Zatkoff heard a rumor that the state party chair wasn’t going to support him, and he threatened to sue him saying “I can just see the headlines College Republicans vs Michigan Republican Party.

If the CRs was a serious organization this joker would have been thrown out on his ass a long time ago. It is a testament as to the poor state of the organization that this behavior is being tolerated.

^ On a positive note, Michigan has a lot of strong clubs. \

    * I was going to say, it has a lot of strong clubs, and so it would be nice if the CRs would lay back and drink some beer, party, have fun and appreciate the strength of those clubs.

A political campaign this early shows the disconnect between those clubs and the state fed. It’s a disconnect that Carlson (and Saul Anuzis, by the way) made worse.
