News Flash: Texas Chairman Justin Jordan to resign

By punch bowl | November 12, 2007

This e-mail came from a well-informed CR mole in Texas:

Justin Jordan and Katherine Meyer, TFCR’s State Chairman and Vice Chairman, will be resigning at the end of December.

The announcement came from Justin to the Executive Board, privately, at our TFCR State Meeting this past weekend. He cites family concerns as the given reason for departure. Katherine, on the other hand, had been clear since the day after her election that she’d be graduating halfway through her term.

So far, three names have been bantered about for Justin Jordan’s replacement:

Clint Petersen, who serves as TFCR Vice Chairman of Alumni Relations and is serving on the board for the third year in a row.

Ryan Murphy, who serves as TFCR Vice Chairman of Development & Operations and just returned from Kentucky as a RNC Marshall.

Colt Jim Clemons, who serves as Chapter Chair at Texas A&M, which is the largest chapter in our state with 500+ members.

At this point, it’s really anyone’s game.

You have to love Texas. The three people rumored for chairman all sound like they just stepped out of a western movie.

Mr. Jordan will be missed by many of his colleagues on the CRNC National Board. CR Nation wishes him well.

I’ve got to second what Midwests Best says, Justin is a good guy and I enjoyed spending some time with him at the convention. Texas should be in fine hands no matter who the next chair is. Just know that this fellow boots & hat wearin southwesterner wishes you guys the best of luck.

Clint Petersen is like 30 years old why is he still trying to hang out with college students? Ryan Murphy would make a great State chair.

Murphy took a crack at running to be Co-Chair this time last year when the position was vacant, a race he lost to Justin Jordan in fact. Apparently he was well-regarded enough to snag a position on the current board. Anyone who reads Truth Caucus will remember Colt Jim Clemens for some vicious attacks over the years against various figures in Texas, most regularly former Chairman Eliza Vielma.

I’m surprised this information got here so fast, but it’s premature.

After Justin made his plans public he’s received a considerable amount of negative feedback from Republican leaders outside the organization. In light of this, Justin is now considering fulfillment of his current term.

I appreciate the kind words from people who left comments, that means a lot. And, Jonathon is correct, I ran against Justin this time last year for Vice Chairman and lost.

The man has incredible support from leaders in the state, snagging an endorsement from Lt. Governor all the way down the line.
