McCain wins Georgetown CR Straw Poll

By punch bowl | November 14, 2007

The Georgetown College Republicans held a mock debate Monday night, where members pretended to debate as Republican Presidential candidates.

Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, McCain, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) all figuratively participated.

According to the school paper, “the debate focused mostly on the candidates’ positions on topics such as torture, prayer in schools, monetary policy and U.S. foreign policy in Iraq, Iran and Pakistan, the participants also managed to add a little levity to the debate.”

After the debate, a straw poll was held, the results of which left John McCain the winner. The school paper did not report the vote tally.
