McCain wins Western Michigan Straw Poll

By punch bowl | November 29, 2007

Yesterday, ABC personality John Stossel spoke at Western Michigan University (WMU) on the subject of capitalism. After the event a straw poll was held in which John McCain was the winner

In a press release sent to CR Nation, the WMU CRs state –

Yesterday, during the Western Michigan University’s College Republican event which featured ABC’s John Stossel (20/20, prime time specials, best-selling author) as a keynote speaker, Senator John McCain bested his Republican rivals during a presidential straw poll held at the forum. University students were able to vote before Stossel’s remarks on politics, government and the culture. Over 550 attended the free event which was funded by the Western Michigan University Student Government.

The poll results were as follows –

Hunter 0 - 0.0%
Thompson 20 - 9.3%
McCain 48 - 22.3%
Huckabee 34 - 15.8%
Romney 27 - 12.6%
Paul 37 - 17.2%
Giuliani 46 - 21.4%
Tancredo 3 - 1.4%

If my memory serves me well, this is the second CR straw poll win for McCain with Giuliani and Paul each following with one win each.
