Romney goes sledding
By rawhide | December 18, 2007
For all of you snowed in with me in the Northeast, I think this video shows that Mitt Romney would do a great job shoveling the snow off our driveways. Not a qualification for president, but still…
This video was filmed last Christmas season during the Romney vacation in Colorado. Those of you who doubted there were hills like that in Iowa were right.

Seriously, Mitt Romney is acting like such a tool. Reminds me of John Kerry skiing at his mutli-million dollar ranch in Idaho or riding in a boat blaring Bruce Springsteen music. Romney needs to cut the crap and get down to the issues. I honestly don’t care if he’s athletic and good-looking. I want a President who can run the country, not a President that can ski.

How is this any different than Chuck Norris’s endorsement of Mike Huckabee? It’s still BS. Here’s the deal: you are an activist. Clips like the one above are not made for you because you know it’s BS. But activists maybe make up 1% of the voting public. That’s who this was made for, and I have to say it looks like it will be eaten up. You should know better than to think that the Romney campaign was seriously trying to persuade an activist to vote for him. So next time, don’t criticize this as if it were meant for people like you.

Is the voting public that dumb that they would vote for somebody who has so much free time that they can sled and shovel snow off a deck? Most working class and middle class people don’t have a whole heck of a lot of time to go sledding and let the snow accumulate on their deck. Do you really think Mr. Hotshot sledding down a hill or jogging in an actual campaign ad is going to resonate with them? And I don’t think Romney’s a bad guy. I agree with him on most of the issues, but the only thing keeping me from supporting him is his polished, calculated, rich guy image. Maybe if he’d tell me his true stances on the issues a little more, work instead of play on the campaign trail and show it in his videos, and not give calculated “strong economy, strong family, strong military” responses at debates while flashing a fake smile, I might actually vote for him.
