MoveOn.org dreams big in ‘08, recognizes failure of ‘07
By sage of monticello | December 28, 2007
Their goals of universal health care and ending the War in Iraq hinge on the Democrats ability to gain nine seats in the Senate in 2008. Gaining nine seats would probably give them enough votes to overcome filibuster.
However, it is unlikely that the Democrats will pick up nine of Senate seats in 2008. More good news from Iraq and the surge; further Congressional incompetence evinced by an inability to pass legislation; and smaller issues like taxes, guns, and abortion will make it significantly difficult for Democrats to pick up the nine seats necessary to end the war.
