MoveOn moves to Facebook

By sage of monticello | January 4, 2008

From a email to MoveOn.org members:

MoveOn is now working for progressive change using Facebook, the social networking site with nearly 60 million members.

In this new year, we’re launching several innovative Facebook projects. If you’re on Facebook, we want to make sure you know when these new projects go live.

MoveOn has always grown through social networks—every time we forward an email to friends and family. With Facebook’s membership doubling in size every six months, social networking sites may be the next big opportunity to reach people who want to make a progressive change in our country.

The Democrats are taking real steps to create a whole generation of liberals. Barack Obama winning Iowa, great utilization of new media, and youth focused groups like MoveOn are all examples that, if left unchecked by agressive action on behalf of Republican organizations like College Republicans, will spell long term minority status for Republicans nationally.

To counter the growing wave, we, as the future of our party, have to be constantly innovative in our message and its delivery; we have to be ethical in our conduct; and we have to be unprecedented in our dedication to seeing our cause through.

We can do it, and right now there is no better time to start.
