State chair survey
By cr nation | January 8, 2008
Sunday, CR Nation sent a survey on presidential preferences to all of the state chairs. The survey asked state chairs to list their first and second choices for president. Anonymity was guaranteed, and CR Nation will not reveal the names of who is supporting who, based on information gathered in this survey. Almost half of state chairs responded, which is a response rate of which CR Nation is proud.
The results show that McCain leads the pack in support as a first choice. Huckabee and Giuliani follow, with Romney a distant fourth. Ron Paul and Fred Thompson are tied for last.
McCain: 33%
Huckabee: 24%
Giuliani: 19%
Romney: 14%
Paul: 5%
Thompson: 5%
Not every state chair listed a second choice, but among those that did, McCain leads as the favorite again. Giuliani and Thompson are tied for third behind undecided, with the rest coming in together at the end.
McCain: 33%
Undecided: 20%
Giuliani: 13%
Thompson: 13%
Huckabee: 7%
Paul: 7%
Romney: 7%
It looks like the McCain campaign has the most support already, and the best potential to build upon that support if the first choice of some drops out. Everyone else has some catching up to do.

I would like to note that the Colorado state chair did not receive this survey.

Our apologies. The list we got our hands on did not include the contact information for the new chair from Colorado. If you would e-mail us the new chair’s contact information, we will make sure that oversight does not happen again.

How many voted in the poll?

Looks like I forgot to send this in. Romney is the first choice for me and McCain the second choice but not much seperates them in my opinion so I’ll be happy either way.

Forgot to mention, congrats and much love to Senator McCain on the win that nobody thought he would get just a few short weeks ago.
