Next IL CR chair supports Giuliani
By punch bowl | January 25, 2008
If the rumors are true, and Megan Szydlowski is elected as the next chair of the Illinois College Republicans, the Giuliani campaign will have a new high-profile supporter.
College Republicans president Megan Szydlowski said she too is a Giuliani fan.
I’ve followed him for a while, and I read his book back when he was still in New York. Right now, the country doesn’t need an ultra-conservative candidate.

A state college republican is not a high profile supporter. A new state chair isn’t even high profile in the CRNC, let alone national presidential politics.

Giuliani winning the Republican nomination means that Reagan’s legacy is officially dead.

Grip, I have to disagree slightly. Illinois primary is February 5th, that’s right around the corner. For some people, this will mean something.
Most people, you’re right, won’t care.

Seems like the ICRF constitution has something about a non-endorsement clause both by the ICRF and it’s executive board.
I wish Megan the best of luck, hopefully she can finally turn around the ICRF around and get something (anything) accomplished this year.

“Right now, the country doesn’t need an ultra-conservative candidate.” So is she saying every other candidate but Rudy is an ultra-conservative candidate?
Way to start off on the right foot-alienating the base, always a great way to start.

ICRF does have a non-endorsement clause(for the organization, membership is free to personally endorse whoever, my recollection was that Binning was a Romney guy

See below:
Section 1 Neither the ICRF nor any individuals acting in their capacity as state officers or board members of the ICRF may endorse any candidate for public office if there is more than one Republican candidate for that office until after the Republican primary for that office.
As stated above, the constitution says “acting in their capacity as officers” To my knowledge Meagan hasn’t issued a press release indicating her presidential preference, instead when asked in conversation who she supports personally she has said Rudy.
If that is a crime I think some people need to temper their ego a bit.
