Former Romney aide, Iowa CR arrested

Matt Elliot, fomer aide for presidential hopeful Mitt Romney’s PAC was recently arrested on probabtion violations. Mr. Elliot was, at one point in time, a leader within the Iowa College Republicans.
The AP reports –
Matthew Elliott, 26, was booked in Marshall County Jail on warrants that included three probation charges, a charge for escape or absence from custody, and violation of the sex offender registry.
Records show Elliott was convicted in Iowa in October 2006 of exploiting a minor. Elliott was arrested Monday after police arrived at a home in West Des Moines where a 7-month-old baby girl was killed.
Police said Elliott was questioned about the death but would not say whether he was a suspect in the killing. Police Lt. Jeff Miller declined to comment on Elliott’s relationship to the girl or how she was killed.
According to the Boston Herald, Elliott is a Drake University graduate who joined Romney’s Commonwealth PAC in early 2006 but left after only a few weeks. Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said Elliott was never associated with the Romney’s presidential campaign.
