Obama attracts MS state chair to event

By punch bowl | February 18, 2008

Barack Obama is a must-see for most college students. Even if you’re the state chair of a College Republican federation, apparently.

Senator Obama will visit Jackson, Mississippi on March 6. A reader tipped us off on an interesting attendee. Who is that, you ask?

Jessica is the state chair of the Mississippi College Republicans. Her mini-feed confirms her attendance at the event.

So if you’re like me, you’re wondering: Why is a state chair publicly announcing that she will be attending the event of someone who may be our opponent in November? Jessica should know by now that no amount of hope will build a strong state federation.

Who cares if she goes to a democratic event? It doesn’t hurt for us to experience our opponents’ grassroots campaigning in person. If she comes out in support of Obama, then Mississippi CRs have a problem, but this shouldn’t be a big deal.

From her first months in office, Jessica has long had the backbone to stand up for her federation. I doubt your brow-beating will make much of a difference to her.

What’s wrong with going to a Democrat event? If you don’t have Democrats coming to protest at your CR events, you’re probably not doing it right.

There’s nothing wrong with attending political rallies, even of the opposition. As long as she doesn’t start fainting, there’s no harm, no foul.

I don’t think she’s done much of anything as a chair. She didn’t attend the convention last year and I didn’t even see her at CPAC. Do they even still have a convention in MS? She just seems to stir up trouble.

Aside from that, I don’t see a problem with attending Obama’s rally. I kinda like to see what his cult looks like.

Maybe she wants to see if what they say about black men is true.

Wow, I would have really thought twice before writing this blog entry. Really. Are we trying to prove who’s the MOST Republican out there? This one really is petty.

There’s no problem in her attending the event, it’s not like one of the regional directors for TFCR last year who VOLUNTEERED to help with the event when Obama was UT.
