Wisconsin College Republicans prepare for tomorrow’s elections

By punch bowl | February 18, 2008

From a press release distributed this morning:

Madison, WI - As the long awaited Wisconsin primary approaches, College Republicans from across the state are gearing up for exciting campaign and election activities. From hosting Presidential hopefuls to educating students on candidates’ positions, the enthusiasm is almost intoxicating.

This morning the UW Eau Claire College Republicans will be hosting Governor Mike Huckabee, and tonight the UW Stevens Point, UW River Falls and UW La Crosse College Republicans will be participating in voter education debates at their respective schools.

“As College Republicans, we’re known for our activism. I’m confident that this renewed sense of youth activism will lead to positive returns at the polls - not only in tomorrow’s primary, but in the general election this fall,” says Ryan Wrasse, UW-Stevens Point senior and Chairman of the Wisconsin Federation of College Republicans.

Tomorrow, College Republicans will assist in get-out-the-vote efforts on campuses across the state to help ensure that every student who wants to vote gets an opportunity.

In addressing the importance of young voters, Wrasse says, “This election is driving young people to the polls - and believe it or not, it’s not only young Democratic voters. Young conservatives take great pride in selecting a presidential candidate - one who will make sure we’re safe from those who wish us harm, one who will reform Social Security, lower the tax burden as we enter the workforce, and reduce the size of government for generations to come.”
