Kyle Bristow.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Chuck Norris
February 25th, 2008 at 11:00 am
I could smackdown Charlie and Ethan with one hand tied behind my back.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Bilodeau
February 25th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Ryan Bilodeau’s sister should run. She’s a much-needed face.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Is Mark Winkler Bilodeau’s sister? I think he’s in the mist of stuffing the ballot box
February 25th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
This selection is terrible.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Ryan Bilodeau
February 25th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
RB will get us the Log Cabin support too.
February 25th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
This is a terrible selection of active CRs. I hope someone comes up from nowhere in 2009 becsaue at this rate with the same old same old….thats all we’ll get in the next administration. Any outsiders around ?
February 25th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
I’m supporting Ryan Bilodeau.
February 25th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
There should have been a ‘none of the above’ choice…maybe you can add it
February 25th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Obviously, RI CR Chair Ryan Bilodeau should be it. Is there really any other choice? You may as well just give up now.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Yeah, can we do “none of the above”? Walton and Bilodeau shouldn’t even be choices.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Blake is in a surge to the front…Bilodeau would be a return to the Gourley era of corruption, plus anyone that talks to him for more than a minute will realize he’s bad for the organization
February 25th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Can I get on this poll?
February 25th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
This is stupid
February 25th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Blake Harris is a wannabe
February 25th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
How about Gary Peters for Vice-chairman, he’s obviously a good speaker and a principled comitted person.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Who is Blake Harris? I don’t no anybody that supports Blake Harris.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
I like Walton
February 25th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Walton is a total piece of elistist trash….ask anybody in the Northeast. However, Bilodeau is the man. He started the Monday Morning Memo! Enough said!
February 25th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
…but Blake Harris does the most. I voted “none of the above” just because Blake Harris (and his surrogate CRNC buddies) were winning.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
I agree. What have Blake Harris and the CRNC accomplished. Nothing. We should be replacing “old blood” with new faces, instead of just shuffling around officers into new positions Moving Blake from political director to Co-Chair is a bad move.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
…died with Charlie, Ethan and Blake. They all need to go - Blake most of all!
February 25th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
I don’t really know that many folks outside the mid west, but I still think Justin Smith of Missouri, Beth D. from Minnesota and Ryan Wrasse from Wisconsin are all good choices.
February 25th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Don’t really know who Blake Harris is…but if he is CRNC that is all I need to know.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
You added the none of the above after I voted! That’s not cool
February 25th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Change equals pure dedication to novel and firm idea, Ryan Bilodeau is the change the future needs.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Voted to early: same for me, that’s two more votes for ‘none of the above’ that they should have and minus one for Ester (I think she should really stay put)
February 25th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
*Voted to earyl: by the way, that should be ‘too’
February 25th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
I actually do know quite a few folks from outside the mid west, but I agree with New Mid West. Of those choices, though, Justin Smith is the most experienced and extremely principled. He’s the smartest choice.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Nick was no angel, but are we seriously considering having Blake be Co-Chair. The scorched earth policy he and Ethan would implement would quash any amount of dissent and independent thought from CR ranks - rendering the CR organization as a whole in much the same position as during the Hoplin and Gourley admins.
Blake and Ethan are no better than Hoplin and Gourley
I vote “NONE OF THE ABOVE”.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Thanks, ???. I can’t spell. And you’re right, Esther is doing a fine job right where she’s at. But the co-chairman shouldn’t really be somebody from outside of the current leadership, either, because it has to be somebody who has the same vision and can work well with Charlie. Why not Justin Smith? He has a mind of his own, and knows how to use it. That can’t be said for some of the poll choices, at least!
February 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Nick was no angel?? Maybe not, but he could hold his liquor. That’s really the important thing in being a college republican, right? Ha.
Seriously, does anybody not agree with me that none of these poll choices are going to improve the organization? We need somebody who isn’t in the inner circle of power, but still has a clue about why CRs are supposed to exist. Is there anybody as qualified as J.S. from MO?
February 25th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Who in the world is Justin Smith?
February 25th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
He’s the former state chair of Missouri, and the current midwest regional vice chair. He’s in law school now, so you don’t hear that much out of him, outside the midwest. One of the sharpest people you’ll ever meet, but not a real socialite. doesn’t drink or party at all. If anybody could keep a clear head on their shoulders through all the stupid high school drama of college republicans, it’d be him, but he probably doesn’t have the time.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Normally don’t post, but I thought I’d mention that there’s an “h” in my name,???, as in Queen Esther. “Ester” is a flower, but I don’t think anyone mistakes me for being that sweet!!
That said, I agree that I should stay put. I do not want to be and will not be co-chair. Titles don’t matter. I was elected to help and that’s what I’ll do to the best of my ability in my current position as treasurer.
Now, can we all try to get along and work TOGETHER to further the causes we believe in?
we’re college students volunteering for causes we’re passionate about…with others who have similar views. Let’s be friends. Heck, we have our whole lives before us to work together. No need to start divisions now, esp when they accomplosh nothing.
If we have a problem with someone, let’s go to that person and tell them. Hey, if you think I’m doing an absolutley horrible job, call me, email me, tell me so. Tell me what you want to see differently. But let’s not fight like kids.
And I’m off my little soapbox!
Don’t hate me too much but if you do, just call and tell me - I promise I won’t cry!!
February 25th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Justin Smith? That stupid liar lacks integrity. No one talks about the tactics he used to remove a democratically elected chairman. He doesn’t need to be in charge of the CRNC’s elections.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
J. Smith? Stupid? I guess. And integrity? Maybe anonymous would like to grow some of his/her own and not hurl silly, faceless insults like a child.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I’m sort of generally confused about the hard feelings toward the collective administration. They may not be changing the world but they’re honest and they seem to be working hard. What’s the problem?
February 25th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Confused,
You really are confused if you think the current CRNC administration is honest???
I mean, is that a joke? Did you hear about the fundraising thing they did in Ohio that was reported on this site? Do you know that the $250,000 STORM contract was awarded to the Treasurer’s (Esther Clark’s) brother after a “competitive” bidding process? How “competitive” do you think it really was?
The CRNC raises money unethically and then they spend it unethically. What is honest about that?
February 26th, 2008 at 1:42 am
Not confused at all, you’re obviously confused about the facts…and very bitter.
February 26th, 2008 at 6:25 am
Go little bro!
February 26th, 2008 at 9:49 am
I don’t know that it was competitive but how can you possibly know that it wasn’t? Her brother’s firm is supposedly legit and they were on contract with a presidential campaign. And I don’t know what OH fundraising thing you’re talking about.
February 26th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Yeah… I don’t remember anything about an OH fundraising thing being posted here.
February 26th, 2008 at 11:21 am
The Ohio fundraising thing that was posted on here was a few months ago and had to do with College Republicans (supposedly from two or three different schools in the state) calling and running push polls while trying to raise money. It was insinuated that it was the OCRF doing this, but no proof was ever offered, and no retraction ever ran here. I can absolutely assure you though, that in the past the OCRF and CRNC have competed for the same donors here in Ohio, especially some of the bigger name, higher level folks that you saw working as Ohio Finance Chairs for the various Presidential bids in the last year.
February 26th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Ryan Bilodeau
February 26th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Walton was in last place yesterday. He must have paid some people to vote for him.
February 27th, 2008 at 12:08 am
What about a new face, but another veteran, Daniel Swanson from Oklahoma? He’s a pretty cool guy.
February 27th, 2008 at 12:40 am
I believe that Nate Walton has the leadership skills, work ethic, and integrity to be the CRNC’s next co-chair.
February 27th, 2008 at 3:13 am
Please be kidding when you say they spent 250,000 on that site.
February 27th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Joe you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. You never have. Go back into hiding.
February 27th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Go intern at CRNC this summer and really see if the fundraising is done unethically. Until you’ve seen the hardwork put forth by the officers, I wouldn’t be talking. You’re an idiot.
February 27th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
The CRNC reportedly only has less than $50K in the bank. They spent like $75K on “consulting” and $100K on salaries and only $15K on the field program in the last few months. Future’s looking bright, folks.
February 27th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Larry,
Do you have a link? I would like to check this out….
February 27th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
He doesn’t have a link because he’s an idiot.
February 27th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Nevermind, Larry. I found the link. It is http://forms.irs.gov/politicalOrgsSearch/search/Print.action?formId=28645&formType=E72
February 28th, 2008 at 10:02 am
Do you really think CRNC only has one bank account?! NO. They have multiple accounts and the account you’re looking at is small denomination donations from mailings from predominately old people. Charlie and John spend most of their time fundraising since CRNC is a NONPROFIT organization! They don’t have ballooned salaries. Most of the national officers aren’t even paid to begin with!
Seriously people…find a new hobby and quit googling things you’re too stupid to understand in the first place.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:10 am
I don’t have the time to look through the whole report but how many siblings of the exec board served as consultants?
February 28th, 2008 at 11:06 am
I think Patriot may be on to something. All of the names people are mentioning seem to be too divisive. Daniel Swanson is the experienced and effective leader we need to unite us.
February 28th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Brian Gwozdz is my hero
February 28th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
How about someone from California?
February 29th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Brian Gwozdz has got better work ethic than anyone i know, including myself. If someone is going to get elected and make CRNC feared by the liberal masses, it’s him!
February 29th, 2008 at 12:33 am
These hit and run comments about siblings working as consultants to the CRNC are exactly the kind of crap that we all should be denouncing and helping to eliminate, not encourage. The cowards who anonymously snipe at the CRNC and the state federations do not help anything at all, and even worse, the attacks are made without any semblance of evidence to back them up. If you disagree with something that the CRNC is doing, then bring some substance to the argument, not a drive-by rock through their window.
February 29th, 2008 at 1:02 am
I agree with Johnathon. If you are going to make a claim, then have the courtesy to use facts to support your claim. It is insulting to the intelligence of the readers of this website for anyone to think that their comment will sway someone’s opinion in the absence of factual support.
From your comments many seem to be concerned about the consulting expenses the CRNC has incurred. While I appreciate the time a commentor above took to compile the aggregate sum of money the CRNC spent from July 2007 to Janary 2008 on consulting, the comment that was made suggested that the CRNC was mis-appropriating funds - a claim that is unsupported by the fact that they spent around $75,000 on consulting.
Feeling compelled to do a bit of research, I spent several hours looking through the latest CRNC finance report (located here: http://forms.irs.gov/politicalOrgsSearch/search/Print.action?formId=28645&formType=E72 and “googling” many of the consulting firms that were listed as expenses.
All were legitimate firms with no obvious ties to any CRNC officer (as was suggested above). Additionally, it would seem that all consulting firms were contracted for legitimate purposes, such as convention, fundraising, etc.
Keeping the CRNC accountable is an on-going and important job, but the credibility and effectiveness of the organization (and our cause) is unfairly and unduly harmed by negative claims that have no basis of fact.
Please do better.
