Despite strong efforts by the Illinois College Republicans, Dennis Hastert’s former house seat fell to Democrat Bill Foster who defeated Republican Jim Oberweis by a margin of 52.5% to 47.5%.

Yeah but Oberweis apparently has this proud and established track record of losing elections. The question to ask is how he got nominated to begin with.

there were 4 men vying for the republican nominee, here goes:

Jim Oberweis: 2 US Senate Runs 02 04; 1 Gov Run 06;
Dairy/Restaurant Owner, Investor(polarizing figure)

State Sen Chris Lauzen: 15 years of public service,
lost to Oberweis 55/45(polarizing figure as well)

Mayor Kevin Burns(Geneva, IL 40 miles west of Chicago) Mayor of a Suburb, primarily populated with yuppies(25-50 professional demographic) dropped out following Hastert’s endorsement of Oberweis 12-07

State Rep Tim Schmitz: Was being considered in late 2006 early 2007, and had Hastert’s blessing, dropped out of the race very early(before it began) to pursue leadership posts in the IL House.

Take it for what its worth
