Oregon convention recap
By punch bowl | April 15, 2008
In OREGON, more than 100 CRs attended the three (3) day convention that cost approximately $18,000. Appropriately, given its length and price tag, the Oregon CRs don’t refer to it merely as a convention, but as a super-convention…
The third of its kind, the Oregon super-convention taught attendees “the dynamics behind grassroots activism.”
John Swanson, immediate past OFCR shairman, represented the CRNC in his capacity as national finance director.
There were no officer elections, because terms of office in Oregon are two-years (current chairman, Reece Hrizuk, is halfway through a 2-year term).
Speakers included Don Malarkey (101st Airborne, portrayed in the Band of Brothers series), state house Republican Leader Bruce Hanna, Oregon Republican Party chairman Vance Day, Congressional District 5 Candidates Kevin Mannix and Mike Erickson, national committeeman Solomon Yue, state representatives Andy Olson and Linda Flores, and candidate for Secretary of State Rick Dancer.
Also noteworthy, Teresa Lucas, chairwoman of the Western Oregon College Republicans and coordinator of OFCR events, was awarded the John Gray Award for excellence and commitment toward College Republican activism.
Congratulations Teresa. We wish you well and hope for your continued involvement in the College Republicans!
