Convention recaps

By punch bowl | April 21, 2008

In Arkansas, The 2008-09 AFCR executive board is:

Bryant Davis — Chairman (Ark. Tech)
Rachael Davis — Vice Chair (u of Ark)
Adrienne Gautier — Operations Director (Ark. Tech)
Dustin Perry — Executive Director (University of the Ozarks)
Rose Southwell — Political Director (University of the Ozarks)

In Arizona, a convention recap is coming shortly….

In Oklahoma, convention attracted twice the number of students this year relative to last.

On Friday night, the Oklahoma CRs caught a ball game and after that, some went to have a drink, while others saw a movie.

On Saturday, OFCR heard a number of great speeches. They heard about the proposed Campus Concealed Carry bill that was introduced in our state house by state rep. Jason Murphey. They also heard two great speeches about the importance of our involvement this fall from state senate co-president Pro Tempore Glenn Coffee and NRCC Chairman and congressman Tom
Cole.

I was reelected as Chairman by a vote of 74 to 34. All other officer positions were unopposed. We had 13 proposed constitutional
amendments, 11 of which passed.

In Kentucky, convention was held this past Saturday at the University of Kentcuky. The night before convention, KFCR kicked off the weekend with a buffet dinner at Malone’s in Lexington, where candidates such as Tony McCurdy were in attendance.

The elections ran very smoothly and each candidate ran unopposed. Here’s the winning ticket:

State Chairman Justin May (Morehead State)
1st Vice Chair Jacob Sims (University of Kentucky)
2nd Vice Chair Charles Badger (Berea College)
Secretary Shane Noem (Western Kentucky)
Treasurer Andrew Carroll (Louisville)

Throughout the weekend, there was roughly 60-70 people in attendance. KFCR heard from speakers like US Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell as well as Former White House Deputy Director of Political Affairs, J. Scott Jennings.

In South Dakota, the University of South Dakota College Republicans report (on their blog) the following:

The USD College Republicans have just finished hosting the 2008 South Dakota College Republicans Convention- and it was one of the most successful in recent memory!

Representatives of several colleges around the state converged on Farber Hall on Friday night, then Raziel’s today in order to hear speeches from local candidates and elect new leadership.

Congratulations to Ryan Budmayr of USD and Brandon Lindstrom of SDSU for being elected Chair and Vice Chair, respectively.

In Rhode Island, they had a fundraiser on Friday night (below picture). Elections were held on Saturday. Mr. Boyle (see video post below w/ Esther Clark) was elected the new RI chairman, replacing the awesome out-going chairman Ryan Bilodeau.

Looks like fun. Are those the Mass. guys with Esther?

We will all miss Mr. Bilodeau and his Monday Morning updates, his automatic voice messages and his text messages.

it is obvious Esther is considering running for chair or being the team leader for a chair candidate…i can tell you that i won’t vote for her or anyone else from the current administration (and I will likely be a delegate!)…why couldn’t Ludeman or Siler run in 2007! we need a truly ‘new’ crnc and not a continuation of the good ole’ boy system that has progressed over time

(everyone knows the current administration was a ‘new crnc’ only in name, after stealing it from Ludeman and Siler who had the right ideas for what the organization needs; not the same ole’ lets give a useless contract to the treasurer’s brother, what bulls*** and political stupidity! it was just a continuation of how the administration started when Ethan was the ‘most dis-honorable’ chairman Paul Gourley’s political director while being chairman candidate Charlie Smith’s campaign chairman and future political director…thanks for all your self-service to the CRNC, Ethan!)

and by the way, thanks CRNC team for wasting money flying your officers and employees around to do jacks*** for the federations…why don’t you give the federations some money? we are Republicans aren’t we? we do believe that states can handle money and the needs of members better than a national governing body, don’t we?

Would have tried to give some credence to your words. then you had to mention Ludeman or Siler who are crooked. those two would have ruined the organization.

Who is running for chair in 2009 on behalf of the current administration? We know they will have a hand picked successor. Take a look at what states have been visited and by whom they have been visited by.

    I’m not going to name names….actually I will…

Blake and Esther (just a hunch)

Oh come on, it’s Blake. Shadily appointing him to vice chair and having pumped up his numbers on the CR Nation poll despite his complete lack of popularity and qualifications wasn’t enough to show that?

How was it shady? Nick resigned, they needed to appoint a new Co-Chair, and they followed the constitutional proceedures for doing so. What’s so “shady” about that?

Wow, I thought Brian Dayton had died, but look he crawled out from whatever orifice he’s been residing in to bitch and moan a little.

  10. Unsatisfied CR Says:
    April 23rd, 2008 at 11:50 pm

Huh?, don’t you think the crnc could have brought in someone new instead of keeping to the good ole’ boy system? that’s what’s shady, even if process was followed

Lets put it this way, the CRNC raises MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for us, CRs. Other than chapter boxes, what else are we getting from the CRNC? A field rep who signs up 5 students who never show to anything? We’d be better off giving the money to states to do their own system of field reps, or, eliminate the CRNC and allow CRNC donors to donatate straight to state feds.

And to add to King Swanson’s comment, they’re using the CRNC money (OUR organization’s money) to send Esther, and Blake, around to the ‘important’ states to prepare them to run for CRNC office again - in case you don’t get it, they’re using our money to allow the administrations puppets campaign and promote themselves.

I disagree though, I think they’re thinking Esther is their annoited one right now, not Blake. Blake may be the back-up though, once, or that is if, CRs realize Esther’s shady dealing and nepotism.

To unsatisfied CR, if you want to run for national chairman, you can get in your car and drive around to state conventions. Let the current CRNC officers do their jobs. Personally I’d like to see Esther, ‘King Swanson’ as you call him or Charlie in my state and I know others feel the same.

Unsatisfied CR - How much of this money that you feel entitled to did you raise?

  13. Unsatisfied CR Says:
    April 24th, 2008 at 7:33 pm

So the officers who we elected to represent crs at the national level should be able to do whatever they want with the money they raise using our name? If that’s how you feel, ok, but I don’t feel that way…and most others don’t. They get away with it because most crs are busy with their chapter and school and don’t have time to represent us. The few that do pay attention and aren’t in the ‘inner circle’ get treaten either politically or financially (those in the several states that actually get some kind of financial support). It’s politics as usual, and if that’s what you want continued in the Republican party, then continue to support the administration.
