Bye-Bye Red Ken and Hello Boris

By windstone | May 3, 2008

It’s official-Red Ken is gone. Boris Johnson, Conservative MP, is the new mayor-elect of London. You read that right-A CONSERVATIVE  is the new mayor of one of the largest cities in the world. The London Times features this tidbit:

The 1990s were a decade of brilliance for Boris, capped in 1999 with the editorship ofThe Specator. He was still only 35 but this prize was far from the limits of his ambition. As a youngster, he once confided to a friend that he would like to be President of the United States. (His birth in New York made this possible, albeit ludicrous).

A pro-American mayor of London! After Red Ken, it may come as too much of a shock. Comments and actions like this, this, and this merit the Red designation. Hopefully, it is a sign of Conservative strength and a strengthening of relations with our British brethren.
