I just wish more CR clubs and state federations would be legally organized. Unfortunately, probably 95% of these groups are in violation of state and federal campaign finance laws.

There is no way some of those states are at the top in regards to fundraising.

Unless you raise over $20-25,000 in most states even having to file your revenue and expenditures isn’t required - just sometimes a good idea anyway.
I know that many states probably including the ones above, raise more money than is reported.
I mean for crying out loud Cali raises tens of thousands every year as does OR, CO, ME, MN, and I’m sure every now and then others break into this level as well.

I was gonna say…I thought Bilodeau was a great fundraiser, or at least that was the perception he gave me.

This is a stupid post. It is poorly researched, and it doesn’t take into account the varying filing/fund raising regulations in varying states. It’s false, poorly analyzed and misleading. Don’t post something half a$$ed, you’re better then that.

Something is flawed with your math Lace. For example, by checking the same website that the Oregon Fed is filed under, it lists total 2008 contributions as $19,772.00. I’m sure this is the case for a lot of other federations. Do more research next time, this is definitely half a*****.

Bilodeau is. He raised $10,000 for the RI CR’s. They formed a PAC and an affiliated Non-Profit at the end of the year so there is no money in there, but those numbers are legit. The Cali CR’s have had to raise more than any of those 3 as well.

With all due respect, please give Oregon the credit it deserves (and these numbers are just for 2008): https://secure.sos.state.or.us/eim/publicAccountSummary.do?filerId=4586

John,
Thank you for providing that information. The site in which I looked for Oregon was https://secure.sos.state.or.us/eim/sooDetail.do?sooRsn=26862
If you go to that site, you will see the following text: Statement Effective From: 02/20/2008 to present and the title “Statement of Organization for Political Action Committee.” When searching for the federation under the site’s engine, these were the only results that came up. In short, what that site says is that the PAC was recently formed. I have updated the post.
Thank you for clarifying, John, and props to Oregon for their high amounts of money raised. The additional PAC they are starting, presumably for the election, will only further provide outstanding success.

If there are other state federations who have exciting numbers to report, you can follow the model of Oregon, who proved their numbers in a documented source. As the post stated, you can also email me informaton at crnation@gmail.com. I will most certainly update the post when applicable.

Federal law prohibits “organized groups” of citizens from spending more than a handful of dollars on supporting or opposing a candidate without being registered as either a PAC or 527.
May 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I don’t know about what other states have on their books, but nationally, an organization only has to file when they’ve accepted or spent more than $1,000 on a federal election.
May 8th, 2008 at 9:21 am
An organization may not have to file and disclose its specifics until a certain financial threshold, but they still generally have to be registered with the proper government oversight body.

So we’re listing the “Wealthiest College Republican Federations” when we know that they may not be? Great posting…really phenomenal.
