History’s fact. Obama’s fiction.

In his Memorial Day remarks, Obama said:
I had an uncle who was one of the — who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps. And the story in our family was is that when he came home, he just went up into the attic and he didn’t leave the house for six months. Right, now, obviously, something had really affected him deeply. But at that time, there just weren’t the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain.
Here is the video of the above remark:
However, history takes issue with Obama’s claim. According To The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Auschwitz Was Liberated By The Red Army On January 27, 1945.
On January 27, 1945, Soviet troops liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp complex, where they discovered some 7,000 prisoners, including young children, who had not been evacuated by the SS.
Responding to Obama’s false claim, the RNC spokeswoman Liz Mair stated:
Barack Obama owes the American public an explanation in light of his statement yesterday regarding his uncle and the liberation of Auschwitz. It is a well-known fact that Soviet troops liberated Auschwitz. Unless Obama’s uncle served in the Red Army, his statement looks nothing short of fatuous—and Americans expect something better than exaggerations and outright distortions from a candidate who hopes to become our next Commander in Chief
Obama’s confusion of history seems akin to Hillary Clinton’s gaffe regarding her trip to Kosovo. In that instance, Hillary similarly confused history, asserting that she arrived in Kosovo under a hail of gun and sniper fire.
The main stream media jumped all over Clinton, we’ll see whether their treatment of Obama is equal. Although, I wouldn’t hold my breath….after all, Obama is the chosen of the Marxist Left (with that in mind, maybe Obama’s uncle was in the Red Army…)
