Dr. No
By sage of monticello | June 25, 2008
Americans don’t like being told “no”. They demand innovative solutions that serve seemingly conflicted positions. On energy, Americans want cheaper energy but without the significant negative environmental side-effects.
Americans want all of the benefits without any of the consequences. They want to drive their cars, but still breath clean air. And for 200+ years we have been able to achieve this, but Barack Obama doesn’t think America can do it any longer.
For example:
1. John McCain Wants To Increase Energy Independence By Allowing States To Decide If They Want To Drill Offshore. John McCain Proposed Lifting The Ban On Offshore Drilling And Letting States Decide If They Wanted To Explore And Drill For Energy. Obama Opposes Lifting The Ban On Offshore Drilling.
2. John McCain Wants Immediate Gas Tax Relief For American Families. John McCain Proposed Immediate Gas Tax Relief For American Families. Obama Opposes Immediate Gas Tax Relief For American Families.
3. John McCain Wants To Reward American Innovation For Developing The Next Generation Battery. John McCain Called For A $300 Million Prize For A Next Generation Battery. Obama Called John McCain’s $300 Million Prize For A Better Battery A “Gimmick.”
4. John McCain Wants To Expand Nuclear Power. John McCain Has Proposed Building 45 New Nuclear Plants. Obama Recently Criticized Expanding Nuclear Power.
Barack Obams says we can’t have energy independence. John McCain says we can.
Barack Obama says we can’t have cheaper gas, efficient batteries, and more nuclear power. John McCain says yes we can.
Barack Obama panders to extreme environmental special interests. John McCain listens to the American people.
So I ask…
What is change to you? Is it “no we can’t” or “yes we can”?
What is hope? Is it “no we can’t” or “yes we can”?
What is a “new kind” of politics? Listening to special interests or listening to the American people?
Elections are about choices and we - as the youth of this country - have a choice to make about the future that we will be a part of.
