Chapter boxes

By punch bowl | June 26, 2008

Yesterday, Ethan Eilon, CRNC executive director, sat down with the guy who makes/sells the products for our chapter boxes.

This year, the chapter boxes will have some new things, such as new keychains, new banners (not the paper kind), sms information cards and other stuff.

Any other ideas on what would be useful for recruiting on campus and thus included in the chapter boxes?

Is there any truth to the rumor that Gunning is going to pick Tommy Jardon to be his Co Chair and Nick Langworthy to be his Treasurer?

How about (either in the box or via download) a prefab Powerpoint presentation that we can insert into our chapter info/meeting times. My chapter doesn’t have a lot of in the way of “historical” stuff, specifically pictures from special events, and a PPT where we can toss in a few of our own pics in along side pics from other chapter/national events.

Oh and the CD from 2006 was great too, with the videos and whatnot.

Not to be a complete pest; sign up that could be made into a web form that would spit out into a usable data file (xls, csv, tab delimited, etc) would be great for data manipulation and management (it could be a great way to aggregate data on the state/regional/federal levels).

Steve, the 4:01pm idea is the premise behind STORM.

The best give away items for us have always been things that students use every day. Pens may seem basic, but they’re always in need. I’m glad to hear we’re getting a sign “upgrade” though -that’s sorely needed.

There is no truth because there can’t be a rumor about a guy nobody’s ever heard of.

Anyone have a copy of that CD? My chapter just started last year, so I don’t have anything besides last year’s box. A powerpoint or a dvd would be great though for recruiting!

If you don’t know who he is then you just aren’t a player. Way to stay current.

A banner/poster to put in front of a recruitment table. The posters last year were too big to do that, so hopefully at least one banner in the chapter box will suffice.

    Who is Gunning?

LOL, one anonymous stranger telling another they aren’t a player is pretty funny.

Do enlighten us. Who is this guy you keep rambling about? The only Gunning I know of was part of the crnc crew back in 01-03… talk about old news.

    Hahaha –

The Gunning referred to in earlier comments to this post is the same Gunning you refer to in your comment. And yes, talk about old, old news…we are talking pre-Hoplin. When Gunning was in CRs most, if not all, of the current national board and CRNC executive board weren’t even in college yet.

lol… could he run even if he wanted to? The crnc’s constitution has to have some kind of limit to how long after graduation people can run or how old the national chair can be, right?

    Hahaha –

Whether Gunning can run or not depends on what date he left college. A person can run for a CRNC position 500 (that is an estimate) days after leaving college.

How did this thread go from talking about chapter boxes to a disagreement over gunning being a player or not? Lol! I love how cr’s can go in 50 million different directions but somehow tie everything together in the end… Chp boxes pre-gourley were great bc chps actually got enough supplies to do several big recruiting drives. Now a lot of chapters are lucky to even get one at all.

Conservative video downloads on dvds- i.e. John Stossel’s “Stupid in America” or “Sick in America” or that new one “Indoctrinate U” just to name a few. I think they could provide chapters good material to start discussions (when they’re not in an election cycle)

The bloody 527 status is inhibiting the usefulness of the boxes. Everyone knows what i’m talking about. No McCain banners, no McCain posters, no McCain buttons, thanks to chapter 527 of the IRS code.

…but you could start a PAC to do the boxes separate of the CRNC.

a dude that’s like 40 (exaggeration) will not be elected national chair, he wouldn’t know what kids want in their chapter boxes!

way to tie the thread to the prevailing topic…hey…anyone? anyone?

“If you don’t know who he is then you just aren’t a player. Way to stay current.”

Hahahahahahahahahaha. What a freakin loser. People like this give CR’s the loser image as nerds. If only I could become a CR playa then I would absolutely dominate in life. I hope one day I become as cool as this guy obviously is.

I don’t know about anyone else but I think the “way to stay current” post was an attempt at sarcasm.

    @R.P. Murphy:
That maybe the premise for STORM, but as I see it, STORM is only useful once you get a person to the meetings.
I’m talking about something that people can fill out in about 10 seconds, so that we can have their data for follow-up recruiting.
