Barack Obama lies about his record (twice)

By sage of monticello | July 8, 2008

The below ad touts the 80% reduction of the welfare rolls achieved in the late 1990s.

The ad was was created by, features and was paid for by Barack Obama or his camapaign. Therefore, it seems reasonable that a person would conclude that Barack Obama supported welfare reform and should receive at least some credit for the consequent 80% reduction of the welfare rolls.

But no matter how reasonable it may seem and no matter how much Barack may want the credit, here’s the lie: Obama opposed the legislation that lead to the reduction.

The fact is Barack Obama didn’t slash the rolls. He had no part is slashing the rolls. He opposed slashing the rolls. Yet he gets on TV and says that he slashed the rolls. Un - freaking - believable. I honestly, cannot believe this guy.

Lies and deceit are not ingredients of hope and change.

He aired an ad which suggests he supported welfare reform when at the time the legislation was passed he was against it. Isn’t that a lying? Is that a Kansas value?

But that’s not all.

Another ad cites a bill that Barack Obama “supported,” but never voted on. How can you support a bill without voting on it? The Chicago Tribune reports:

[In the ad] Obama ad cites a bill he did not vote on…he did not vote for its passage on Jan. 22…he was busy campaigning in advance of the South Carolina primary.
