Or so says Ashley Barbera, former chairwoman of the Maryland CRs and current CRNC employee.

I see that the fascistic abuse of language continues. It’s ‘chairman’.

It’s the most ambitious CR turnout in our history!

Why so skeptical? I’m sure MN and the neighboring states alone are providing a couple hundred volunteers, not to mention the storm group, and everyone going as a delegate, alternate, delegation aide, etc.

the new CRNC and ashley are a perfect fit - some of the biggest bs’ers around

probably only like half of those 40 STORM contest winners are probably actually here at convention

I am here with the STORM winners. There are about 15 of us here. I haven’t met any other CRs since I’ve been here, so I doubt there are 500. But maybe! That would be awesome!

Why so skeptical? There are way more than 500 CRs at CPAC every year, and the RNC is a much bigger deal than that. Why is it so hard to believe there might be that many CRs at the RNC?

How much exactly is she being paid anyways? she’s an employee?

how much are all the NewCRNC employees being paid?

I’m actually not paid at all. I worked full time over the summer, and still work quite a few hours per week now that I’m in law school, for no salary. The CRNC pays for the data plan on my blackberry, and that’s it. For me, making a difference is more important than making money.

The number I gave in the AP article was simply an estimate I made well before the start of the Convention. It’s impossible to know exactly how many CRs are here, because the RNC volunteers signed up through the Convention Committee and not through us. I can tell you, however, that in addition to the STORM winners, there are a couple dozen CRs here as Delegates and Alternates (MD alone has 5), and a few dozen more who worked full time as Convention Interns over the summer. I spoke with a Page tonight who told me that 60-70 members of the page program are college students. In addition, Minnesota and neighboring states have provided many, many more CRs who are currently serving as RNC volunteers, working with the McCain campaign in the Twin Cities, and volunteering for other conservative organizations.

Perhaps there aren’t quite 500 CR volunteers in Minneapolis-St. Paul this week. Or perhaps there are far more than that number. Regardless of the exact number, no one can deny that College Republicans from all around the country have had the opportunity to participate in all facets of the Convention experience. From the Delegates who elected Senator McCain as our Party’s nominee tonight to the volunteers who make everything work to the speech we will hear tomorrow from our very own National Chairman Charlie Smith, College Republicans are truly making a difference in Minneapolis-St. Paul this week.
