Mr. Smith goes to St. Paul

By punch bowl | September 5, 2008

He was supposed to speak, but got cut due to a Hurricane Gustav compressed schedule. Nonetheless, Mr. Smith (CRNC Chairman) spoke - althought to a camera, not a crowd - about why young voters support John McCain and about how College Republicans generally and how the CRNC specifically is working to get ‘ole J-Mac elected.

And for those intrigued by Charlie’s “Life in the Field” pitch, you should check it out. It’s the CRNC’s next online project and is a place where College Republicans, young conservatives, donors and non-financial supporters can see via twitter updates what our field reps are up to, while, you guessed it, they are in the field.

Matt Drudge’s website is reporting a mess in the Pennsylvania CRs. Since CR Nation hasn’t gotten around to posting it yet, I’d like to render the advice to any CRs willing to listen: think about the people around you. Watch out for their interests, not just the interests of those guys who supported you and were with you all the way. Think, also, about those guys who voted against you for your current role. Think about those guys who have procedural and logistical disagreements with you regarding how the CR organization should be run. Don’t sell them out. They’re your members. You don’t just work for an election win, or for that State GOP chair who never quite gives your organization the credit it deserves. You also work for your own members. Pugliese could get heralded in some corners, but what just happened is a mistake.
