CRNC: Vegas edition is this weekend. National officers, state chairs, staff, field reps, and CR groupies will rendezvous in the Entertainment Capital of the World for the annual CRNC board meeting. Here are three things to watch:
Will anyone begin jockeying to run for CRNC chair?
Speculation on potential 2009 candidates has been ominously quiet to this point, with all attention focused on the November elections. With those elections behind us, the CRNC election is the next on the horizon. In 2006, Charlie Smith’s strong performance at the Denver board meeting established him as the clear front-runner. Will someone try to make a move in Vegas?
Can the CRNC handle opposition?
Anonymous comments on CR Nation have increasingly been attacks directed at the CRNC. Yet Charlie Smith, Ethan Eilon, and company have not yet been publicly challenged. Will they be able to respond if they are finally tested? Critics on CR Nation level most of their criticism at the field program and STORM. Will the CRNC be able to defend these programs?
Can those in attendance keep quiet about any late-night debauchery?
CR Nation is dispatching writers and moles to get the scoop on what happens after business hours. We’ll do our best to make sure that what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas.

Hey, I’m not anonymous.
I’m just a Cincinnati Bengal wide receiver that likes to check out collegiate political blogs in my spare time. Totally normal.
Ocho Cinco, you’re an idiot.
I want to see photos of the people drunk. I want to know who’s going to the Bunny Ranch, and who had their way with who.
I think two differents tickets you’ll see emerge, but obviously on seperate tickets will be Ryan Bilodeau on a reform ticket and you’ll have Esther Clark with Jenielle Alonso on the establishment ticket…that’s my two thoughts
There should be some sort of CR Thunderdome at this meeting. Winner gets Charlie’s “job.” I put job in quotes because he hasn’t really done anything of note with the exception of the massive failure that is STORM and having field reps who are, in the words of a great man, “insane in the membrane.”
Ryan Bilodeau is notoriously disliked throughout the organization, although he did improve the state of Rhode Island, he would not fare well at a run for the Chairmanship. He is regarded as manipulative and underhanded, thats no secret, he doesn’t stand a chance. Also, his reputation of serial “dating” ugly CR girls won’t improve his chances. Esther Clark and Jenielle Alonso would be a fantastic ticket, two individuals who are well liked, hard working, and actually have credentials to speak of. However, the fact is you will NEVER see that ticket emerge. It just won’t happen. But if the establishment thinks they can win a reelection campaign with Harris and Smith they are simply wrong.
Esther absolutely wants to run and thinks she deserves it – I don’t agree though
I would like to see Mike Davidson or someone with his ambition, dedication, professionalism, and sincere committment to the organization and who is truly reform-minded
(I don’t think anyone was fooled that the NewCRNC was just the Old CRNC, aka the establishment ticket)
Please explain why Jenielle Alonso or Esther Clark would be a “fantastic ticket”. You mention that they have “credentials”, enlighten me. Alonso was never a state chairman and Esther seems to have run a run-of-the-mill job in Georgia.
How about a successful state chairman like Dorobiala from MN or Hagen from MO? Or Zach Howell from Utah, he would be good.
Did Anyone see Esther talking to Katie Couric during the RNC Convention?
Please God I hope she doesn’t run.
I like to think that there is no chance in hell an establishment ticket can win. First of all, STORM? Really? That is your bright idea for the future? Second of all, why the HELL would the CRNC redeploy someone that the NY CR’s basically kicked off? Third, where is the vision? Where are their big ideas? They did a great job of fundraising but where were they in the Election cycle?
I think Esther, Dorobiala, or Hagen would be legit. I have also heard rumors about Benny Johnson, who would be an awesome candidate. The guy has some great ideas that are realistic.
Why would Esther be legit? Isn’t her brother/his company the recipient of the hundreds of thousands of dollars that were wasted on STORM?
Other than steering money into her family’s pockets, the only other thing she seems to have done is go to conventions and make YouTube clips with mediocre production values.
i love ryan bilodeau.
Stop gossiping, bickering, and backbiting. We would all do far better if we worked for a common goal, and not against each other.
