I think this sums up why Fletcher (Republican KY Governor) lost his re-election bid –
Beshear won traditionally Democratic counties that he was supposed to win and made it close in those where Republicans have typically run well. In Boone County, for example, where 63 percent of the voters are Republican, Fletcher won by less than 2 percentage points.
Incumbent Republican Governor of Kentucky, Ernie Fletcher, is headed for defeat tonight. A CR Nation mole reports that with 89% of the precints reported in, Fletcher is losing 59%-41%, despite the hard work of College Republicans from several states.
When asked why Fletcher lost so badly, the one-word response was corruption.
Also contributing to Fletcher’s impending defeat were reports of a poorly ran campaign that focused too much on a losing issue (casinos), and in-fighting with the GOP (the Fletcher Republicans vs. the McConnell Republicans)
Electoral defeat is tough, especially when you have so much invested in it and you lose so badly. I can certainly empathize with what many of the KY CRs are most certainly feeling right now.

Tyson Grinstead, Chairman of the North Carolina College Republicans, has reported to CR Nation as to his personal and his federation’s efforts to assist College Republicans in other states, who are currently in the midst of important elections with wide-ranging implications.
Grinstead states –
…these VA senate and house races have potentially big implicationsfor US House districts and to get some momentum going in VA down the road. We took up several car loads of NC folks to Newport News to foucs on going door to door and phone banking for the VA sentate district 1 race.
Jonathan Bryant? The Tennessee state chairman was spotted by a Kentucky newspaper shaking hands with Governor Ernie Fletcher. Chairman Bryant is apparently one of the many CRs flooding into Kentucky for the final Get-Out-The-Vote effort.
The Kentucky CRs should be very thankful to receive an official state visit from the distinguished Mr. Bryant.
