Screwed by SGA…

Bias in student governments. Nah, not by tolerant liberals… The College Democrats budget as a student group, as approved by the student government, at Northwestern University in Evanston IL is $42,088.00 If there is a chapter, I wonder how much the College Republicans get, if they get anything...

At what point is a baby entitled to human rights?

John McCain’s answer: decisive, honest, unwavering and presidential.

Barack Obama’s answer: indecisive, wavering, equivocal and disappointing.

I commented on this a few weeks ago, making some mistakes(Moon Landrieu lives!) and forgetting Mark Sanford. I also was too quick to dismiss Governor Palin. She would be a fantastic addition to the ticket and would help to sway women from the Democratic Party. Here are some thoughts on names being floated

Tom Ridge-There are many things to like about the former PA governor and Homeland Security Secretary. He was a great governor who pushed through good reforms of the economic, education, and health care systems. He is a respected Vietnam veteran who did a better job at DHS than the pundits care to admit. But there is one thing that will keep him off of the ticket-his views on abortion. Senator McCain has made clear no pro-choice candidate will serve on the ticket. It would hurt with efforts to reach out to social conservatives. I like him and I think it would be a great ticket, but unless he pulls a GHWB in 1980, I doubt it. Plus, the close association with the President would hurt,I’m sad to say.

Eric Cantor-He rocks. The only Jewish Republican in the House, he comes from the swing state of Virginia. He consistently pushes through conservative policy ideas in the House and is one of the few people on Capitol Hill who understands the power of the Internet. His youth would also help, and it would be hard to criticize Cantor as inexperienced. But some say he wants to be Speaker and would turn it down. But didn’t Gerald Ford want to be Speaker in 1973?

Lindsey Graham-Along with Joe Lieberman, John McCain’s best friend and longest supporter in the Senate. He is great on national security, judicial philosophy, and economics(save trade). He would help with social conservatives because he opposes the destruction of human embryos, but immmigration hawks would revolt over the choice. But if McCain goes for someone he can trust without a doubt, Graham would be the choice. But just as Ronald Reagan didn’t pick dear friends like Senators Paul Laxalt or Jesse Helms, it is unlikely he would remove his closest Senate ally from his post.

I would say Tim Pawlenty, Paul Ryan, Rob Portman, Sarah Palin, Eric Cantor, Jon Huntsman and Charlie Crist would be the best choices for McCain. But we’ll see, won’t we?

No right to disagree…

…at least in Wisconsin and on the issue of abortion….

This is a demonstration of the Pointers for Life group displaying 4,000 crosses symbolizing the 4,000 babies that are aborted in the United States everyday.

In the video a student senator defies orders to stop defacing a peaceful demonstration. In his mind, the demonstration offended him, which apparently gave him the right to destroy it.

Their goals of universal health care and ending the War in Iraq hinge on the Democrats ability to gain nine seats in the Senate in 2008. Gaining nine seats would probably give them enough votes to overcome filibuster.

However, it is unlikely that the Democrats will pick up nine of Senate seats in 2008. More good news from Iraq and the surge; further Congressional incompetence evinced by an inability to pass legislation; and smaller issues like taxes, guns, and abortion will make it significantly difficult for Democrats to pick up the nine seats necessary to end the war.

A Challenge to Democrats over Partial Birth Abortion

Credit this to Morgan Wilkins –

What is a Partial-Birth Abortion?

The definition of partial-birth abortion in H.R. 1833 is “an abortion in which the person performing the abortion partially vaginally delivers a living fetus before killing the fetus and completing the delivery.”

A number of physicians were involved in the drafting of this language to ensure that it is medically accurate and does not encompass any other form of abortion or legitimate medical procedure.

Registered nurse Brenda Pratt Shafer witnessed several partial birth abortions while working for an Ohio abortionist. She described one of these abortions in a July 9, 1995, letter to Congressman Tony Hall:

The baby’s body was moving. His little fingers were clasping together. He was kicking his feet. All the while his little head was still stuck inside. Dr. Haskell took a pair of scissors and inserted them into the back of the baby’s head. Then he opened the scissors up. Then he stuck the high-powered suction tube into the hole and sucked the baby’s brains out.

Hillary, Obama, and Edwards, the Democratic frontrunners for president all support this, and have PROVEN that with their vote.

HOW ON EARTH DO YOU ALL SLEEP AT NIGHT??!?!?!?!

I challenge one person to justify their support of this heinous act, or thier support ofany of these candidates.

If you can not, then I challenge you to publicy remove your support of these candidates, or any other candidate who supports killing half born children.

Morgan, being Morgan, always seems to get quite a few comments on things she writes. Here are a few comments that struck my fancy –

I’m an independent. And I think “abortion” is an ancillary issue.

Steve, do you consider your life “ancillary?” Until you do, maybe you shouldn’t impose that label onto a political issue that forcibly costs thousands of human beings their lives each year.

And my favorite is from Stephen Shepard, a leftist friend who has shown up on CR Nation previously. Stephen said –

I would be for outlawing abortion IF:

1. Medical exemptions (the mother’s life being in danger) was an exclusion.

2. For poor mothers social services were provided for them i.e. food, housing, ect.

3. Non-abortive birth control was free.

4. Sex-ed was taught in all schools.

5. Abstinence programs went the way of the dinosaurs (sorry guys, we’ve proven these programs are highly ineffective)

6. We enforced a living wage instead of a minimum wage.

So there you go, we know for a fact that abortion is a result of poverty, if we can encourage an environment (often that the poor don’t have) of nurturing and help I would firmly reject Roe v. Wade.

Stephen, fixing one wrong only to governmentally impose another six doesn’t seem like a good deal. You really need to work on your log rolling, otherwise your Marxist policies won’t get you very far.
