CA College Republican arrested

The Dana Report is claiming that a CA College Republican was arrested over the weekend at a Red State Rising Mixer. Red State Rising is a ticket vying for control of the CA College Republicans and is led by its Chair candidate Adam Ellison. Running against Mr. Ellison is Michael Antonopulous and the...

From the “party of tolerance”:

GW College Democrats President Cory Struble was accused of sanctioning harassment of conservative students with comments he made earlier this week on WRGW Radio.

“We want to marginalize College Republicans as much as possible. … We want to make sure that GW is an even more uncomfortable environment for Republicans and conservatives who seek to destroy our country,” he said.

The Washington Times has the quote and much more about uncivility by the GW College Democrats.

“Why are College Republicans allowed in Ohio?”

Attacks by College Democrats just won’t stop. A few hours after last night’s post on the New York College Democrats, Bobby Hoying wrote the following on an Buckeye Planet, a Ohio State message board:

Why Are College Republicans Allowed In Ohio?

——————————————————————————–

I can’t believe that College Republican chanpters are allowed in Ohio, what purpose do they serve! College Democrats support the working man and woman, but College Republicans don’t help anyone just the rich.

Tell Ohio colleges to throw out all students who are members of the College Republicans!

Less than 20 minutes later, a moderator temporarily banned Bobby from the message board:

Take a few days off to cool off, read the rules and decide if you want to be a part of this community.

Hopefully you can find time for this in between seeting over Winston Churchill & republicans.

Just another example of what “change” really means to the Democratic Party.

“Where have all the College Republicans gone?”

The brouhaha started by the College Democrats of America co-chair just won’t stop. The New York College Democrats take their shot at College Republicans today on their blog:

As President of the NY College Democrats, I am proud to say that we have a booming organization in the Empire State. A quick google search of NY College Dems yields tons of blog entries and our amazing website which our New Media Director JF has brilliantly put together with tons of pics and links to our 50+ chapters across the state. Meanwhile the NY College Republicans are nowhere to be found. It is difficult to find their webiste and they dont blog at all. They don’t even get any mention in the NY media.

This past weekend we sent over 150 students from NY into central PA to canvass for Obama. We were located in 4 different offices: Bloomsburg, Hazelton, Stroudsburg and Wilkes- Barre and not a single college republican was to be found either from NY, PA or any other state.

Much has been made of an op-ed post by College Democrats of America National Council Vice Chair Lee Drake who talked about the high budget of the national college republicans and their lack of ground troops helping McCain. I couldn’t agree more with him. The College Republicans do indeed have a significant fundraising advantage over us but the College Democrats have a huge advantage when it comes to mobilizing our troops for Obama on the ground across the country.

In fact, College Democrats make up much of that fundraising gap by working with the Obama campaign and the DCCC, DSCC to help pay for transportation costs for campaign invasions into battleground states and regions to get Democrats elected.

Earlier this fall I challenged the NYS College Republican chairman to a debate and they rejected the challenge, claiming that they wanted to focus on campaigning. While that’s perfectly reasonable, I have yet to see or hear college republicans in NY campaigning for any race in large numbers.

Perhaps nationally they are hiding because they think McCain is a horrible candidate who doesn’t adequately represent young voters.

This logic makes perfect sense. According to the author, Brian Young, the College Republicans have a website that is tough to find, don’t have a blog, and turned down a debate request, which naturally means that College Republicans across the country are “hiding” because of our “horrible candidate.” I didn’t quite follow that. Logic doesn’t appear to be Mr. Young’s forte.

Was he a College Dem?

Was the student suspected of hacking Sarah Palin’s computer a TN college dem?

Read.

Updated by rawhide: So the College Dems say he wasn’t one of them. But I’m with former CR David Oatney: Why not?

The UT Democrats’ rush to distance themselves from this situation begs the question: Why wasn’t David Kernell, the son of a Democratic State Representative, involved in the College Democrats at the University of Tennessee? If this young man is as interested in politics as this kind of activity would seem to indicate, he should have actively sought out the College Democrats. Because his father is a State Representative, Kernell very likely would have been placed on a leadership track in the organization very quickly. He had a wonderful opportunity to really become a “Big Man On Campus.” Yet he apparently chose instead to hack into Sarah Palin’s e-mail.

Hey, Mr. Blake: This is how we roll…

From Travis Symoniak, Executive Director MN College Republicans:

Dear CR Nation,

I really do hope you send these things a long. I can not believe he has said things like this. I am the Executive Director of the MN College Republicans and just wanted to pass along a few of the things we are doing here in MN. Please pass this along!

Last week alone MN CRs made over 9000 phone calls, with close to 100 volunteers coming out and helping. On the CRNC’s National Event Day we had 42 volunteers come out state wide and made just over 3200 phone calls and knock on 860 doors. That was just last week. This week every CR chapter in the state is having their weekly phone banks and will have numbers at the end of the week.

We have recruited 1600 – 1700 new members statewide that are becoming active in the state.

As a state we also marched in 30 – 40 parades over the summer to help out all of our Republican Candidates.

These are just 3 examples of what the MN College Republicans have done and are doing. In no way are we close to done volunteering and helping out Senator McCain and Governor Palin and all of our candidates. We have many activities coming up and wont be done working until the polls close on November 4th!

Please do not post this on crnation. I just wanted to pass this a long so you can send it to Lee so we can prove to him we are actually working. Thanks for everything you guys do!

From Jeremy Hagen, Chairman of the Missouri College Republicans:(taken from a comment on this post):

In Missouri, many good things are happening, including (1) recruitment, (2) volunteer efforts, and (3) new chapters.

(1) In Missouri, since the field reps hit campuses in late August our federation has grown by well over 6,000 members. One of our field reps is the leading CRNC recruiter in the nation.

(2) In four weeks, Missouri College Republicans have volunteered 3,736.5 hours making more than 40,000 phone calls. For any of you who take the time to know Missouri’s unique status as a bellweather and battleground state will recognize that the efforts of Missouri College Republicans could be the margin by which Republicans win on a statewide level. Things get so tight – year in and year out – the efforts of College Republicans heavily influence who wins and who loses. An off year for us and Democrats are elected. Can’t say that in states like Oklahoma, where, as I recently found out, things are pretty easy.

(3) In Missouri, since the beginning of the summer we have started 11 chapters. Schools with new chapters include Webster University, Maryville University, Lindenwood University, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, Missouri Valley, Westminster, Ozark Technical College, Drury University, Missouri Southern State University, University of Central Missouri, and Northwest Missouri State University.

I consider all these things to be good and contrary to the argument fronted by Mr. Blake that College Republicans is solely a fundraising institution. We fundraise, that is for sure, but it carries with it a broader purpose, that being recruiting, volunteering and starting new chapters and doing so with an ever focused eye on electing Country First Republicans.
