Things are coming down to the wire in the 14th congressional district and Jim Oberweis can use all the help we can give him. We have only a few days left until the voters of Illinois’ 14th Congressional District choose their next Congressman. It is critical that we elect Republican Jim Oberweis in the Special Election on THIS SATURDAY – March 8th.

If you have some time this Saturday please come out to one of the campaign offices and give us a hand. The times and locations are listed below and remember every little bit helps. For any College Republicans that make it out to one of the offices and help out for at least four hours the ICRF will reimburse for travel expenses. Please fax receipts to 630-344-0920. THAT’S NOT ALL – For every college republican that helps from one of the ICRF’s member schools the ICRF will donate $30 per person to that school’s chapter. So if your school get 10 people out the ICRF will donate $300 to your chapter!

University of Tennessee to hold campus primary

Forwarded to CR Nation via email…

On February 4, students at the University of Tennessee will be able to participate in the UT Republican Primary sponsored by the College Republicans.

The primary will be held from 11am to 4pm on the Pedestrian Walkway near the University Seal. Students will be asked for their student ID and will then be able to vote for their preference among the Republican presidential candidates.

“We hope this will encourage UT students to get out and vote in the primary on February 5, and also in the Presidential Election in November,” said Tyler Lewelling, Co‐President of the UT Chapter of the College Republicans. “The bottom line is that youth voters want someone who is mainstream and trustworthy. Barack Obama was just rated as the most liberal senator in the country by the National Journal and Sen. Clinton is untrustworthy on every issue from granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants to promising our troops the funding they need only to be one of 13 senators to vote against it.”

John DiChiara, Communications Director for the College Republicans, says that he is conident in the slate of candidates that the Republicans have this year. “When it comes to youth voters, we want to see someone who is going to open up opportunities in the economy and keep our nation secure ‐ not burden us with higher taxes and bureaucracy and surrender in the War on Terror. The Republican candidate is going to offer an inspiring agenda for the future of our country.”

URI College Republicans plan “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week”

Ryan Bilodeau, Chairman of the Rhode Island College Republicans and active member of the Univsity of Rhode Island (URI) College Republicans, kindly sends me a “Monday Morning Memo” every Monday morning. Its so much fun I can’t sleep Sunday nights…

In its latest edition, the memo describes the intent of the URI College Republicans to “launch” a “Islam-Fascism Awarenes Week.” This is a wonderful idea, and in my opinion and fun and creative way to spread one particular facet (self-defense) of the Republican message on college campuses. No only do events that focus on spreading Republican principles have to be effective in that regard, but they also have to be “cool” enough to involve students. This event seems to achieve both.

Here is a schedule of events that the URI College Republicans have planned as of this time. This event in being held in conjunction with Terrorism Awareness week, which is October 22 to October 26, but this event can be done anytime. So for all you chapter chairs out there, while it is a bit late to begin planning this event for next week, I would encourage those who read this to take note and plan this event for some other time. Maybe in November or next spring.

Monday, October 22 – Student Petition Drive denouncing Islamo-Fascist violence against women, gays, Christians, Jews and non-religious people from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM in Memorial Union Booth 1.

Tuesday, October 23 – “Women’s Rights and Political Islam” lecture by URI Professor Donna Hughes at 7:00 PM in Memorial Union Room Atrium 2.

Wednesday, October 24 – Author of “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam” Robert Spencer Lecture on Radical Islam at 7:00 PM in the Memorial Union Ballroom.

Thursday, October 25 – Showing of the documentary “Islam: What the West Needs to Know” at 7:00 PM in Memorial Union Room Atrium 2.

Friday, October 26 – Memorial services for the victims of Islamic Terror at 12:00 PM in in Memorial Union Room Atrium 2.
