Wait….that’s actually four letters. And for the record, Joe Biden should never be allowed to poke fun at George Bush

Field program reaches 100,000 recruitment goal
By punch bowl | October 15, 2008
Ashley Barbera shares the good news in a press release to CR Nation:
(Washington, DC) – With nineteen days remaining until Election Day, the College Republican National Committee announced the success to-date of their 2008 field program, which recruited over 100,000 new members in six weeks. On August 27th, the CRNC deployed 50 highly trained field representatives to battleground states coast-to-coast to recruit and mobilize college students to turn out to vote on November 4 and elect Republican candidates up and down the ballot.
Nationally, the 50 field reps have:
RECRUITED 100,795 new College Republicans.
REGISTERED 18,122 new College Republicans to vote.
CONTACTED over 250,000 voters so far.
The 250,000+ voter contacts have come from a series of national Get-out-the-Vote efforts, in which College Republicans have gathered across the country to contact tens of thousands of voters in a single day through phone calls and knocking on doors. The CRNC has another national GOTV event this Saturday, and plans to contact over 100,000 voters in battleground states across the country in a single day.
“Contrary to conventional wisdom, the youth vote is not lost to Republicans,” said National Chairman Charlie Smith, “and our field program’s overwhelming success so far using innovative recruitment tactics both in the field and online, is testament to that fact.”

“Why are College Republicans allowed in Ohio?”
By cr nation | October 14, 2008
Attacks by College Democrats just won’t stop. A few hours after last night’s post on the New York College Democrats, Bobby Hoying wrote the following on an Buckeye Planet, a Ohio State message board:
Why Are College Republicans Allowed In Ohio?
——————————————————————————–
I can’t believe that College Republican chanpters are allowed in Ohio, what purpose do they serve! College Democrats support the working man and woman, but College Republicans don’t help anyone just the rich.
Tell Ohio colleges to throw out all students who are members of the College Republicans!
Less than 20 minutes later, a moderator temporarily banned Bobby from the message board:
Take a few days off to cool off, read the rules and decide if you want to be a part of this community.
Hopefully you can find time for this in between seeting over Winston Churchill & republicans.
Just another example of what “change” really means to the Democratic Party.

“Where have all the College Republicans gone?”
By cr nation | October 13, 2008
The brouhaha started by the College Democrats of America co-chair just won’t stop. The New York College Democrats take their shot at College Republicans today on their blog:
As President of the NY College Democrats, I am proud to say that we have a booming organization in the Empire State. A quick google search of NY College Dems yields tons of blog entries and our amazing website which our New Media Director JF has brilliantly put together with tons of pics and links to our 50+ chapters across the state. Meanwhile the NY College Republicans are nowhere to be found. It is difficult to find their webiste and they dont blog at all. They don’t even get any mention in the NY media.
This past weekend we sent over 150 students from NY into central PA to canvass for Obama. We were located in 4 different offices: Bloomsburg, Hazelton, Stroudsburg and Wilkes- Barre and not a single college republican was to be found either from NY, PA or any other state.
Much has been made of an op-ed post by College Democrats of America National Council Vice Chair Lee Drake who talked about the high budget of the national college republicans and their lack of ground troops helping McCain. I couldn’t agree more with him. The College Republicans do indeed have a significant fundraising advantage over us but the College Democrats have a huge advantage when it comes to mobilizing our troops for Obama on the ground across the country.
In fact, College Democrats make up much of that fundraising gap by working with the Obama campaign and the DCCC, DSCC to help pay for transportation costs for campaign invasions into battleground states and regions to get Democrats elected.
Earlier this fall I challenged the NYS College Republican chairman to a debate and they rejected the challenge, claiming that they wanted to focus on campaigning. While that’s perfectly reasonable, I have yet to see or hear college republicans in NY campaigning for any race in large numbers.
Perhaps nationally they are hiding because they think McCain is a horrible candidate who doesn’t adequately represent young voters.
This logic makes perfect sense. According to the author, Brian Young, the College Republicans have a website that is tough to find, don’t have a blog, and turned down a debate request, which naturally means that College Republicans across the country are “hiding” because of our “horrible candidate.” I didn’t quite follow that. Logic doesn’t appear to be Mr. Young’s forte.

McCain in Virginia
By rawhide | October 13, 2008
John McCain in Virginia Beach today:
Let me give you the state of the race today. We have 22 days to go. We’re 6 points down. The national media has written us off. Senator Obama is measuring the drapes, and planning with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid to raise taxes, increase spending, take away your right to vote by secret ballot in labor elections, and concede defeat in Iraq. But they forgot to let you decide. My friends, we’ve got them just where we want them.
What America needs in this hour is a fighter; someone who puts all his cards on the table and trusts the judgment of the American people. I come from a long line of McCains who believed that to love America is to fight for her. I have fought for you most of my life. There are other ways to love this country, but I’ve never been the kind to do it from the sidelines.
I know you’re worried. America is a great country, but we are at a moment of national crisis that will determine our future. Will we continue to lead the world’s economies or will we be overtaken? Will the world become safer or more dangerous? Will our military remain the strongest in the world? Will our children and grandchildren’s future be brighter than ours?
My answer to you is yes. Yes, we will lead. Yes, we will prosper. Yes, we will be safer. Yes, we will pass on to our children a stronger, better country. But we must be prepared to act swiftly, boldly, with courage and wisdom.
I know what fear feels like. It’s a thief in the night who robs your strength.
I know what hopelessness feels like. It’s an enemy who defeats your will.
I felt those things once before. I will never let them in again. I’m an American. And I choose to fight.
Don’t give up hope. Be strong. Have courage. And fight.
Fight for a new direction for our country.
Fight for what’s right for America.
Fight to clean up the mess of corruption, infighting and selfishness in Washington.
Fight to get our economy out of the ditch and back in the lead.
Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.
Fight for our children’s future.
Fight for justice and opportunity for all.
Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.
Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. America is worth fighting for. Nothing is inevitable here. We never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.
Now, let’s go win this election and get this country moving again.
